Word From Oxford
Welcome to the Oxford Research Encyclopedia of Latin American History! I am thrilled to oversee this exciting new project at Oxford University Press. With Editor in Chief William Beezley, the Editorial Board, and a team of in-house editors, I work to shape the content of the ORE and secure leading scholars to contribute.
Oxford University Press publishes some of the best current work in Latin American history, both in book and journal format, and we are excited to launch this new project to bring you the highest quality reference material available in the field. The ORE will provide students and scholars with peer-reviewed, historiographically-informed, and continuously updated articles in all areas of Latin American history. Entries will serve as a foundational source of information on a given topic and a jumping-off point for deeper research. As a digitally native source, the ORE also incorporates multimedia, including images, links, and audiovisual clips, that allow readers to explore in greater depth the richly diverse history and cultures of Latin America.
In the coming years, we hope that the ORE of Latin American History will become the go-to resource for historians and students in the field. Please check back regularly for updates as our project grows, and consider getting involved. We look forward to hearing from you!
